After unmasking murderers on a coach trip, an ill-fated Tyne cruise and at a creepy campsite, former tour guides
Terry and Gemma find themselves embroiled in more homicides in Gold’s three-part comedy drama Murder, They Hope.
The engaged couple, played by Johnny
Vegas and Sian Gibson, have waved goodbye to their coach-tour business and have opened a privateinvestigation agency.
‘Gemma thinks this is their chance to move up in the world,’ says Sian. ‘Terry’s just going along with it for an easy life!’
But the cashstrapped pair’s career change isn’t going well and they’re forced to live with Gemma’s
snooty sister Monica (Sarah Hadland) and equally awful police officer sister-in-law Vicky (Shobna Gulati).
A baffling new case soon comes their way, however, when a sinister rabbit figurine of Gemma’s turns out to be highly coveted by a range of weird and wonderful collectors.
‘It’s very strange and they unravel a big crime,’ reveals Sian.
While Janine Duvitski, Nitin Ganatra and Adrian Scarborough are among the suspects in the opener, Jason Manford, Lee Mack and Paul Whitehouse guest star in subsequent episodes.
‘They’re all comedy legends,’ says Sian. ‘Some days were impossible because we were laughing so much!’
