Star bakers!
Dame Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood put more celebs through their paces…
THE GREAT CELEBRITY BAKE OFF FOR STAND UP TO CANCER Tuesday, 8pm, C4 Cookery
Another batch of famous faces are making their way into TV’S most celebrated tent for C4’s The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer.
Judges Dame Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood will be sampling the efforts of 20 stars during the five-part series. The first episode sees presenter Emma Willis, DJ Clara Amfo, comedian Alex Horne and actor Blake Harrison battle it out.
Getting creative
‘Emma was funny. And I’m a big fan of The Inbetweeners, so just looking at Blake made me laugh,’ says Paul. ‘His baking made me laugh as well, but for very different reasons!’
The quartet face three challenging tasks – decorated biscuits for the Signature, madeleines in the Technical and a choux sculpture displaying their secret talent for the Showstopper – as they try to impress Paul and Dame Prue.
‘Anything with choux pastry, I’m happy, especially if it’s filled with crème pat or cream,’ says Paul. ‘A couple of things didn’t turn out the way they expected.
But they do come up with some ingenious stuff.’
In later instalments, Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah, actors Ben Future bakers… Ben Miller and Miller and Katherine Kelly
Katherine Kelly and Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse show off their baking prowess, while Matt Lucas, who co-hosts the series with Noel Fielding, also had to compete after a celebrity dropped out at the last minute.
While he admits some of their bakes raised eyebrows, Paul admires the contestants. ‘Some stuff they did made me giggle. But these people are out of their comfort zones,’ he says. ‘And they do it to help fight this awful disease that affects so many of us.’ l To donate, please visit channel4. com/su2c
