Work it out! NEW

Lee Mack hosts a new quiz where logic is the key to winning £100k…

-

Q What appealed most about hosting this show?

A This is the first time I’ve hosted a quiz show – not to be confused with a panel show, I’ve done plenty of them! This is a proper quiz with proper questions and real things to win rather than a load of comedians trying to out-funny each other!

Q What do you like most about the format?

A Most quizzes use generalknowledge questions, but with this, the questions are about logic. If your brain is quick enough, you have 30 seconds to work out the answer. It’s like an IQ test. This is more than being able to remember facts.

Q You have 100 contestants in the studio during each episode. What was that like?

A The questions start off gently but to win the £100k you have to answer a question only 1% of the country would get right. And there are two different types of contestants: ones who go all the way to the end, then ones who are there to enjoy themselves.

Q Were there any standout moments?

A One of the funniest was a chap who was desperate for us to get going as he was dying for the loo. He kept asking us to do it quicker! I also found it a lot more tense than I thought I would.

And as you’ve spent all evening getting to know the contestants you want them to do well. It’s heartbreaking when they don’t.

Q Which television quizzes are you a fan of?

A Ones that are really tough. I watch University Challenge knowing that if

I’m lucky I’ll get a couple of questions right and I’m more than happy with that – when you do it feels great! I’m not going to lie, I went through the whole series of this without getting a 1% question right. The best I did was 5%. I showed my kids some of the questions after we’d filmed and they were really engaged. They loved it!
