Sunday, 8pm, ITV Drama
For his final case in the series, the Amsterdam-based detective (Marc Warren) is called out to investigate a fatal acid attack, which took place in a crowded concert-hall foyer in front of numerous witnesses. But the investigation soon leads the team to the discovery of an international sex-trafficking network that has links all the way to the top.
Corruption, coercion and an international sex-trafficking network involving politicians and royalty are exposed in this week’s final episode of Van Der Valk.
When cellist Fleur Mas (Hadewych van Gent) dies following an acid attack in a concert hall, Piet Van Der Valk (Marc Warren) and his colleagues investigate.
‘The case has personal connections for Lucienne,’ explains Maimie Mccoy, who plays Piet’s partner, Lucienne Hassell. ‘We learn Fleur was in a relationship with Lucienne’s ex-girlfriend, Femke de Haan [Eva Marie de Waal], the orchestra’s guest conductor’.
The team also discover Fleur was being stalked, and on the day of her attack, met up with an investigative journalist. ‘Fleur being romantically linked to her ex pushes Lucienne to act in a way that goes beyond professional boundaries,’ says Maimie. ‘Lucienne does something very questionable.’
