Fastest Finger First
Anita Rani on hosting a Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? spin-off...
Mon-fri, times vary, ITV Entertainment
This quiz show hosted by Anita Rani expands on the famous first round of
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Now, five contestants put their answers to a multiplechoice question in a specific order. The two players with the biggest score then go head-to-head in a Fastest Finger First duel, with the winner fast-tracked to play in the next Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? series hosted by Jeremy Clarkson.
Q Can you tell us how this new spin-off show works? A It expands on the familiar first round of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, where contestants have to put their answers to a multiple-choice question in a specific order in the fastest time. We expand on this to have five contestants play against each other to take it in turns to work their way up a question ladder. The two highest-scoring players then go head-to-head. At the end of each episode, whoever is leading when the klaxon sounds will be fast-tracked to sit in the Millionaire hot seat in front of Jeremy Clarkson when the new series begins. Q Have you had a go at the game yourself? A I’ve stuck to my job of hosting the show, so I haven’t had a chance to see what it’s like to be a contestant. But I can see the excitement and tension they face playing out in front of me! Q Would you say that you are a big fan of quiz shows? A I’m a quiz obsessive! We are a proper telly family who sit and watch TV together, and when they revealed they were bringing Millionaire back with Jeremy Clarkson, I couldn’t wait!
Q What would be your go-to subjects in quizzes?
A I’m OK with entertainment, current affairs and nature but would quickly come unstuck with questions about sport! Q Do you consider yourself a competitive person? A I’d like to say no, but my family and friends might disagree! You should ask my husband when we play board games at Christmas.
Q This is your first ITV entertainment show as host, so could this mean you
are leaving BBC1’S Countryfile? A Definitely not. I’m just very fortunate that I can present a number of great shows from Countryfile to Woman’s Hour and now a new entertainment show for ITV born out of a brilliant brand like Millionaire. I was really pleased to be asked.
