Heartbreaking tale

C4’s recent documentary India 1947: Partition in Colour was a fascinating watch, even if the tale of those brutal and tragic days was upsetting. It was heartbreaking to hear first-hand accounts of an event in which millions of people died and many more were uprooted, as a region was split into two countries. It’s important to finally hear these stories, and the colourisation of archive footage from the time really helped bring them home. M Jones, Leeds
