The Voice UK
As the Blind Auditions begin, coach Olly Murs is feeling competitive…
Saturday, 8pm, ITV Entertainment
The red chairs will be swivelling once more during the Blind Auditions as coaches Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am, Annemarie and Olly Murs are all on the lookout for the next big thing in the music world. Emma Willis again hosts the singing contest, won last year by Craig Eddie from Anne-marie’s team.
Talent show The Voice UK bursts back on to our screens on Saturday night as more aspiring recording artists sing their hearts out in the hope of impressing superstar coaches will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones, Anne-marie and Olly Murs enough to get those red chairs spinning around.
Emma Willis is once again on hosting duties, and returning for this 11th series is the live studio audience!
‘I enjoyed doing The Voice UK last year but, having a crowd again, it feels like the show has got its missing piece back,’ says Olly. ‘It’s so lovely to have people in a room smiling and enjoying themselves. I thrive off an audience – I love the energy they bring. We’re back with a bang!’
Innovation
In a twist to the usual format,
The Battles have been replaced by The Callbacks – where the coaches determine which hopefuls, who make it through the Blind Auditions, will progress to the semi-final.
Anne-marie won in her coaching debut last series with Scottish singersongwriter Craig Eddie, scuppering Olly’s chances of three victories in a row. So the competition is definitely on…
‘At the first Blind Auditions show, Anne-marie came out wearing a tiara and giving a little queen’s wave, and me, Tom and will.i.am were like her royal servants,’ jokes Olly. ‘We’re going to have to see what happens. All the coaches are fresh and there’s some amazing talent.’
