Fri, 9.30pm, BBC1 Comedy (box set, iplayer)

Daisy May Cooper of This Country fame plays Nic, an unhappy housewife and mum, in this six-part comedy thriller. Nic befriends another mother, Jen (Grantchester star Selin Hizli), at the school gates, and the two develop a strong bond – but Nic is hiding a big secret and makes a sudden confession to Jen when she’s drunk! Lenny Rush plays Nic’s son, Oilie.

Abudding friendship and a very big secret are the driving forces in the story of unhappy housewife Nic, who befriends straighttalking mum Jen.

Created by and starring This Country’s Daisy May Cooper, who plays Nic, and Selin Hizli (Grantchester), who’s Jen, the six-part comedy thriller sees the two mums meeting for the first time at the school gates while dropping off their sons.

‘On paper, Nic has a brilliant life,’ says Daisy May. ‘She doesn’t have to work; she’s got a funny husband and a great relationship with her son, Ollie, but she’s still feeling lost.’

When Jen comes into her life, the two women feel a connection and are soon bonding. However, Nic is hiding a secret and grieving for a loss she’s never been able to share with anyone – that is, until she gets very drunk and comes out with a startling confession!

‘Nic is desperate to seek validation from all the wrong places when she should be putting effort into her son,’ explains Daisy May.

‘Nic and Jen are like moths to a flame with each other because they’re equally damaged and toxic. We wanted to create a story with lots of twists that people really won’t be expecting!’
