Josephine Tewson 1931-2022

Best known for…

Josephine was well known for playing snob Hyacinth Bucket’s longsuffering next-door neighbour Elizabeth Warden in the 90s sitcom Keeping up Appearances. She also played Miss

Davenport in Last of the Summer Wine from 2003-2010.

Other achievements…

During the 70s and 80s, she starred in the sitcom Shelley, plus many sketches in The Two Ronnies. She also appeared in Coronation Street, Heartbeat and Midsomer Murders, while her last TV role was in an episode of Doctors in 2015.

Sad passing…

Josephine died on 18 August in London’s Denville Hall, a retirement home for actors. She was 91.
