Doc Martin
Ben Miller guest stars in Doc Martin for one last madcap adventure...
Wednesday, 9pm, ITV Drama
The Doc is called to a local farm for an emergency, but he’s annoyed when the supposedly sick farmer, Ron, is managing his sheep well enough. Martin is then stunned when a man, Stewart James, played by Ben Miller, jumps out wearing sheep pelts. He can’t help but worry about Stewart’s mental wellbeing, so he encourages him to drop by the surgery for a check-up. It’s there that Morwenna inadvertently ropes Al into agreeing to attend a survival course
Stewart is running.
Ben Miller makes a one-off return to Doc Martin as eccentric ranger Stewart James, popping up to persuade PC Joe Penhale (John Marquez) and Al Large (Joe Absolom) to test his new survival course.
‘I love playing Stewart. We’ve seen him at various stages, including living on Bodmin Moor and hallucinating a giant squirrel!’ laughs Ben, who first played him in 2004. ‘Every time Stewart comes back, you think he’s OK, but then he’ll suddenly lose it.
In this episode, the wheels come off
– and the squirrels are back big time!’
At the GP surgery, the
Doc is alarmed by the results from Stewart’s annual check-up. Meanwhile, at the woodland camp, Stewart’s acting erratically again and has taken a hostage! Can the Doc sort things out?
