Moira vows to be there for Faith, who’s decided to end her own life when her cancer becomes too much
When Faith Dingle learnt her cancer had returned and was terminal, it was Moira she turned to, while Chas and Cain, were kept in the dark.
Moira faithfully provided support, care and love and took the brunt of her husband Cain and his sister Chas’ anger when they found out the tragic truth.
The whole painful mess seems like ages ago now and ended up bringing the family closer together than ever.
Losing battle
But Faith’s cancer is progressing fast. Visions of her violent ex Shadrach have really shaken her and, worse, seen her mistake her beloved son for his awful dad.
Not wanting to suffer any more than she has to, Faith has decided she wants to end her own life when she’s ready. And once again, it’s Moira she’s confided in.
‘Well, first of all, she didn’t want any support at all – she thought it would be easier to deal with it on her own,’ says Sally Dexter, who plays
Faith. ‘Moira has been absolutely brilliant in giving her support.
But at the same time,
Faith wants to keep things quiet and
Moira wants her to spill the beans.’
This week,
Faith pushes the issue with
Moira, who’s in bits. After much agonising, Moira vows to be there for her when the end comes. As her health takes another downturn, Faith organises a family fun day but the mood is crushed by Chas and Cain, who want to organise a hospice, unaware it won’t be needed.. In turmoil, Moira asks for details but Faith doesn’t want her implicated as assisting suicide is a crime. But Faith is insistent that this is her best option. Can Moira keep her counsel?
