Happy campers!

A team of camping enthusiasts rate some of the best sites North Yorkshire has to offer…

-

As camping holidays are more popular than ever,

The Perfect Pitch returns for a second series with more enthusiasts pitching their way around Britain on the hunt for the best of the best.

This week, the camping critics are glamorous RV owners Nik and Harriet, back-to-basics enthusiasts Emmy and Simon, and novice campers and best friends Sugapuff and Therryi, who are checking out the best sites in North Yorkshire.

Country comforts

They kick off their camping adventure at family-run glamping site North Shire on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. And its luxury touches, including a large hot tub, appeal to Nik and Harriet, who have named their 38ft American RV Marbs 2!

‘Nik’s always been into motorhomes, but it was my idea of hell going camping – we’ve had to compromise,’ says Harriet. ‘Our RV is the absolute height of luxury!’

During their stay, the campers enjoy welly wanging and a pirate-themed boat trip in Whitby. Later in the week, they also learn to forage for food at an eco-friendly campsite near York and try sheep shearing at a working farm on Ilkley Moor.

But will North Shire earn a coveted five stars and be in the running for the title of Perfect Pitch at the end of the week?

‘I love it, but I think it’s a little bit too posh for us!’ says Emmy, who admits she prefers a more natural site. ‘However, I don’t think you could ask for better views!’
