Carmy had carved for himself, and he has to try to get the uncooperative staff on board and cope with family rifts, while facing his own grief. ‘I knew immediately how much I cared for Carmy and how much my heart really hurt for him,’ says Jeremy, who previously starred in the US version of Shameless. ‘In playing Carmy, I was aware that he had no room for love. I saw this lonely man whose identity was so wrapped up in this thing, and if he didn’t get it, he really felt like he was going to die.’
