Neighbours AT WAR!

Hostilities escalate between the Larkins and the Jerebohms...

Olive branch… Pop and Ma

The Larkins didn’t exactly hit it off with posh new arrivals the Jerebohms when nostalgic drama The Larkins returned for a second series last week.

Having bought dilapidated Bluff Court, Pinkie (Morgana Robinson) and grouchy husband Cuthbert (Julian Rhind-tutt) couldn’t wait to show off their renovated country retreat, inviting Pop and Ma (Bradley Walsh and Joanna Scanlan) for dinner. However, when they learnt they’d paid over the odds to wheelerdealer Pop for the property, the couple decided to get payback by firing shotguns at all hours of the day and night.

Dramatic get-together

This week, as a peace offering, Ma and Pop invite the new arrivals to a barbecue at their farm, hoping to pour oil on troubled waters. But after Pinkie lets slip that all is not well in her marriage, it soon becomes clear that she is a force to be reckoned with, when a shocking turn of events lands Pop in serious trouble.

‘She’s very charming and effusive when you first meet her,’ says The Windsors’ Morgana of her character, who loves to wear pink. ‘But the more you get to know her, the darker it gets!’

Morgana adds that she took inspiration for Pinkie from a rather unusual source.

‘There are elements of 101 Dalmatians villain Cruella de Vil,’ she explains. ‘Quite charming, witty and full of quips – but underneath she’s not good news!’
