Robbie Coltrane 1950-2022

Best known for…

Robbie brought to life the lovable character of caretaker Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter films. He also played Dr Eddie ‘Fitz’ Fitzgerald (right) in the series Cracker from 1993 to 2006, a role for which he won three BAFTAS.

Other achievements…

Actor and comedian Robbie starred in the C4 drama National Treasure in 2016. He also played Valentin Zukovsky in two James Bond movies in the 1990s, voiced The Gruffalo in the TV films and played Orson Welles in Urban Myths.

Family life….

Robbie died in hospital near Falkirk in Scotland on 14 October, aged 72. He’s survived by his children Spencer and Alice.
