Set in 1862, this drama stars Florence Pugh as Lib Wright, an English nurse called to Ireland by a devout Catholic community.

She’s been asked to watch over 11-year-old Anna O’donnell (Kíla Lord Cassidy), who claims to have not eaten for four months and says she is existing solely on ‘manna from heaven’. Lib’s job is to watch Anna for two weeks to establish whether her survival without food is a true miracle or a hoax.

As Lib becomes closer to Anna, she is determined to unearth the truth, which challenges the faith of the tight-knit community. Meanwhile,

The Daily Telegraph sends over a journalist, Will Byrne (Tom Burke), to report on the ‘miracle girl’. Could something sinister be going on?

‘It’s a conversation and a conflict about science versus religion,’ says Florence, who recently appeared in the movie Don’t Worry Darling opposite Harry Styles. ‘It’s a tale as old as time.’
