The murder of Al Chapman seemed like a cut-and-dried case after his fiancée, Kerry, found Cain standing over his body with a gun, but in truth it’s a bit more complicated than that…

Recently, Cain told wife Moira how his young son, Kyle, had killed Al – and flashbacks have since revealed what really happened…

After finding out about Al’s affair with Chas, a furious Cain lured his sister’s illicit lover to a barn, where he confronted him with a shotgun.

What Cain didn’t realise was that Kyle was watching in fear from the sidelines…

As Cain got into a fight with Al, the firearm was tossed to one side and the young boy swooped in to grab it before either of the men could get to it. But when Al made a lunge for the weapon, a petrified Kyle stumbled backwards and accidentally pulled the trigger.

Fallout

As Cain guided his distressed son away from the scene, he told him not to say a word to anyone, but Kyle was so distraught that he revealed all to mum Amy and told her he should go to the police and turn himself in. As Amy insisted that it had to remain a secret, Cain was arrested by the police and charged with Al’s murder, and this week news reaches the village that mother and son have gone to Belfast.

With the evidence stacked against him, Cain knows he’s in prison for the long haul, but he’s also in for another shock…

When Moira decides to leave the village with their son, Isaac, also bound for Belfast, Cain’s devastated and is left wondering if they will ever return…

Has Moira left him for good just when he needs her most?
