ADRIAN DUNBAR: MY IRELAND

SWednesday, 8pm, Channel 5 Factual

tar of Line of Duty Adrian Dunbar takes a trip down memory lane as he heads off on a journey around Ireland to take in the scenery, learn about local history and sample some delicious food. In the first episode, he pays a visit to Fermanagh, where he grew up.

‘It’s the playground of my childhood,’ says Adrian. ‘I remember the picnics and the Sunday afternoons. My father was involved in rebuilding the castle bridge.’ Adrian takes to the water to visit the island of Devenish, which houses a sixth-century monastery and is only accessible by boat. It’s a place that also holds some precious memories…

‘You and a mate and a couple of girls. You’d have a great day out and then on the way back you’d have to row against the flow. That was a tester,’ he recalls.

However, it’s not all fun for Adrian, who gets put to work on an oyster farm and helps cook at the renowned Macnean House & Restaurant in Blacklion, using local seasonal ingredients.

‘Whenever I’m here, I feel at peace,’ says Adrian. ‘There’s something about the landscape that’s deep-rooted within me.’
