INTO DINOSAUR VALLEY WITH DAN SNOW
9pm, Channel 5
Nearly 200 years ago, the USA was the scene of an incredible series of discoveries by fossil hunters, who found the bones of dinosaurs that had been buried for millions of years. Dan Snow goes on the trail of this dinosaur gold rush, from the open plains of Wyoming to the foothills of the Rockies, and reveals how a variety of creatures were discovered, including triceratops, stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus rex and the most-famous of them all, ‘Dippy’ the diplodocus. Dan looks into how dinosaur bone hunting became a vicious rivalry and retraces the steps of the men involved and how they unearthed the secrets of the Jurassic age. After joining palaeontologists on a dig, he learns why America is such a hotspot for dinosaur remains.
