Your Christmas or Mine?

-

From Friday 2 December, Prime Video Comedy drama

There’s feel-good Christmas fun as we follow student lovebirds James and Hayley (Asa Butterfield and Cora Kirk) as they prepare to return home for the holidays. But each secretly decides on a surprise visit to the other at Christmas, but mishaps and mayhem mean they both end up spending the season apart and with their partner’s family rather than each other…

Student couple James and Hayley, are heading home from university for the festive period. But after a disastrous mix-up at the train station, they end up at each other’s houses for Christmas – without each other!

And their families couldn’t be more different. As Hayley (newcomer Cora Kirk) struggles to get on with James’ aloof, aristocratic father (Alex Jennings), James (Sex Education’s Asa Butterfield) is thrust into the pandemonium of Hayley’s huge Macclesfield clan. Meanwhile, secrets emerge that threaten the young couple’s budding romance.

‘They say goodbye to each other, but then they both make this split-second decision to surprise each other by getting on to each other’s trains!’ says Daniel Mays, who plays Hayley’s affable dad, Geoff.

Family

‘They end up at the other one’s family home, where they get snowed in, meaning they’re forced to spend the Christmas period with each other’s families!

‘Watching it back, I roared with laughter, but I also shed a tear. At its heart, it’s a film that epitomises the importance of family.’

However, Daniel says that although he loves Christmas, he’s never bought a jumper like the knitted Christmas one his character wears in the film!

‘I’ve never owned anything so hideous!’ he laughs. ‘It was there waiting for me on set and I didn’t get to take it off!

‘Because I work so much, what I love most about Christmas is just being at home and chilling out with the family, going on country walks, overeating and watching the kids unwrap their presents. That’s what it’s all about!’
