Bill Treacher 1930-2022

Best known for…

Bill rocketed to fame thanks to his role as much-loved Arthur Fowler in Eastenders. He appeared in the very first episode in 1985. He remained in the soap until 1996, when Arthur died from a brain haemorrhage.

Other achievements…

After leaving Eastenders, Bill went on to appear in TV shows such as The Bill and Casualty and films Tale of the Mummy, The Musketeer and George and the Dragon. He’d previously had roles in Who, Sir? Me, Sir?, The Bright Side and Grange Hill.

Family life….

Bill died on 5 November, aged 92. He’s survived by wife Katherine, son Jamie and daughter Sophie. His health was said to have been declining for some time.
