There’s love and passion in this adaptation of the classic – and controversial – 1928 DH Lawrence novel. The Crown star Emma Corrin plays Connie, who marries Sir Clifford Chatterley and enjoys a life of wealth and privilege. But when Clifford returns from war with debilitating injuries, Connie starts to feel trapped in her marriage and turns to gamekeeper Oliver Mellors (Jack O’connell). Their affair leads to a self-awakening for Connie but also becomes the subject of local gossip, so she must choose between forbidden love and passion or conforming to the strict expectations of society. Joely Richardson, who played Lady Chatterley in the famous 1993 miniseries of the story, stars as Sir Clifford’s nurse Mrs Bolton in the film.
