Q Although paramedic Iain Dean has split from nurse Faith Cadogan, he’s very present in her teenage daughter’s life. Why is this?
A Even through the rocky times for Iain and recovering drug addict Faith [Kirsty Mitchell], Iain’s tried to preserve his relationship with her three kids. He can see that Natalia is at that age where life is throwing new challenges at her. She lost her dad, Lev, in 2021 and he wants to help her.

A It’s the shift from hell for Iain. The episode opens with one of the most brutal and gripping patient scenes
I’ve ever filmed. Then, just when he thinks things can’t get any worse, Natalia [Zoe Brough] throws another curveball at him, completely finishing his day off!
Q Is Iain surprised and shocked at the kiss? A There’s been something in the air and, at first, Iain completely denied it, because it’s not something on his radar. She’s Faith’s daughter and he’s there as a father figure. Last week he told Natalia that’s all it can ever be. He thought he’d put the record straight…
Q Can you tease what happens next?
A Put it this way, it definitely doesn’t stop at the end of this episode! There are new emotional challenges for him.
Q Would you like Iain and Faith to get back together? A Yes, 100%! Iain’s matured a lot and he would like nothing more than for it to work with Faith. But Iain’s a simple soul and the complications that come with Faith and a ready-made family are very apparent.
But, in his defence, he’s not running away from it!
Q What do you love most about working on Casualty? A I love filming on location: it’s the best and every episode is like a new job.
You never know what you’re going to be faced with. No matter who I am working with, I laugh from the minute I turn up until I leave. I’ve been playing Iain for 12 years. I’m very lucky!
