When Charity Dingle rescued Mack from gangster Harry Harris it may have saved her husband’s life, but the ordeal has ended up destroying hers.
The traumatised landlady can’t get past the horror of what went down when she accidentally shot Harry who was about to murder Mack. Though Chloe agreed not to tell the police her ex’s wife killed her dangerous dad, Mack had to agree he’d never see their son Reuben again.
Charity’s tried to suppress her feelings and flashbacks, but she’s been unravelling ever since. Acting ‘normally’ has become impossible.

Atkins, who plays her. ‘It’s caused a shock in her system – she’s taken someone’s life and someone’s son.’
This week, Mack’s relieved when his wife finally agrees to seek help. In a bid to get closure, Charity visits Harry’s grave and confronts him…
Haunted
That night, she feels calm. But her peace is shattered when Harry haunts her dreams and continues to spook her when she wakes.
Plagued by terrifying visions, Charity’s behaviour is noticed by GP Liam, who can tell something is seriously wrong. Now totally sleepdeprived and strung-out, she ends up conking out on the sofa, but as a night terror takes hold, triggered Charity reacts and lunges at bystander Mack, who is left gravely injured…
‘She’s disturbed by the noise of a car and assumes Harry or his gang are coming for her,’ reveals Emma. ‘She fears vengeance will be done. Mack realises she’s dreaming and gently touches her leg. But Charity immediately lashes out, thinking it’s something sinister.’
