Under pressure
Trixie faces turmoil when Matthew tries to fix their financial woes…
Trixie is left uncertain about the future as her marriage to Matthew undergoes fresh challenges, pushing her to breaking point.
The stylish nurse, played by Helen George, has discovered that Matthew (Olly Rix) has been having financial trouble with his family business Aylward Estates, which has resulted in his removal from the company’s board and payroll. Now, as Matthew’s car is seized by a bailiff and he fears he might be made bankrupt, an anxious Trixie is suffering from insomnia, so she turns to Dr Turner (Stephen Mcgann) for support.
‘Trixie has been happy and settled, so this is utterly heartbreaking,’ says Helen. ‘She really struggles.’ Meanwhile, Matthew is hell-bent on trying to improve their situation, so he reconnects with an old school friend who might be able to help him. When his pal offers him a wonderful opportunity, Matthew is thrilled, but after he excitedly informs Trixie, she is upset that she hasn’t been properly consulted…
Challenging myths
‘Because it’s the 1960s, Matthew thinks the man solves the problems and he feels the need to take fiscal responsibility without including Trixie,’ shares
Helen. ‘But she wants to be involved in the decisions, so that’s hard.’
As emotions run high and tensions rise. Can the couple find a way through?
‘At first glance, Trixie is all about dresses, fun and money and maybe that’s what Matthew thinks she wants, but now she proves that’s a myth and we see her true love for him,’ explains Helen. ‘There are incredible scenes revealing how they can carry on in their relationship, or can’t…’
