Available: Friday 15 March

Genre: One-off romantic comedy hopeless romantic’s dreams of marrying her crush are granted in Freaky Friday-style romcom Irish Wish, coming to Netflix just in time for St Patrick’s Day.

Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan plays mousy book editor Maddie, who’s infatuated with bestselling author Paul Kennedy (Sanditon and Merlin actor Alexander Vlahos).

The only problem is that Paul is in love with Maddie’s best friend Emma (Top Boy’s Elizabeth Tan). And when they get engaged, Maddie has to put her own feelings aside to be a bridesmaid at their wedding in Ireland.

AComedy Season:

However, Maddie’s dream of marrying Paul comes true when, days before the wedding, she makes a spontaneous wish on an ancient stone in Ireland – and somehow wakes up as Paul’s bride-to-be!

‘Maddie’s hopelessly in love with Paul and she’s expecting him to love her back,’ says Lindsay. ‘We shaped her in a way that she was a bit more insecure in the beginning, then she grows throughout the movie.’

Thrust straight into planning her dream wedding, she signs up 3 Eps: 6 photographer James Thomas (Downton Abbey’s Ed Speleers).

But as Maddie and James scout the countryside for idyllic Irish backdrops, Maddie finds herself spending more time with James than her fiancé. And as her dream day gets closer to becoming a reality, she begins to wonder whether Paul is really her soulmate after all…

‘It’s a nice story of luck, love and confidence,’ says Lindsay, who has Irish heritage. ‘Ireland is so beautiful. I’d never been, but my grandfather’s from there. We stayed in this little town called Dalkey. The people are so nice – and the Guinness pies were amazing!’
