Bitter bombshells
Highs and lows for Chas as the cancer test results are in…
This week, as Chas recovers from a double mastectomy, she braces herself to find out if her loved ones have also got the faulty gene that caused her triplenegative breast cancer.
In the firing line, Cain, Caleb and Aaron are braced for the worst. If they have the BRCA2 gene, they can pass it on – and may already have done.
At Butlers, Moira’s ecstatic to learn her husband isn’t a carrier, and at the Milligans’, the news is good, too. However, loner Aaron’s not been so lucky, and decides to lie to his mum.
‘He’s always been one of those who doesn’t like the constant eyes and attention on him. And if he was to tell people straight away when he’s not dealt with it himself, he’s likely to get a lot of people asking him if he’s all right, which is the worst question you can ask him, really,’ says Danny Miller, who plays Chas’ son Aaron.
The next day, Chas is still buzzing for her beloved son Aaron, who covers his emotions. He’s relieved when Paddy,
Mandy and Eve, who’s too young to have the test, arrive, taking the spotlight off of him. And soon enough, there’s another issue to deal with as Mandy brings up Chas and Paddy’s kiss. Bracing herself for a gobful, Chas is stunned when her cousin says she wants to move on. But Mandy’s uncharacteristically easy-breezy attitude doesn’t even last the week.
As the family celebrate Marlon’s 50th, Marlon clumsily mentions to Mandy that it was Chas who broke off the embrace, not Paddy…
How will Mandy react? Will she keep the bombshell to herself or kick right off?
