Zack and Whit split?

When Zack returned to Walford, leaving his pregnant partner Whitney at Bianca’s, it was clear things had got pretty bad. But Whit’s crusade to save Britney – the neglected young girl she met on the council estate in Milton Keynes – has taken priority over everything and everyone.

This week, Whit returns but excited Zack’s plans crumble when he clocks Britney, who reveals she’s been fostered by Whit. In a spin, Zack’s grateful when Lauren informs him that she’s decided to keep quiet about the pass he made at her.

‘He just wants to make things right with Whitney,’ says James Farrar, who plays Zack. ‘He hopes he can move forward with his little family.’

Wanting to help, Lauren takes Britney under her wing to give the couple space to talk. But it’s no use.

With the atmosphere at rock bottom, Whit continues to focus on Britney, but a plan to take her shopping is waylaid when she finds her trying to wash her soaked bed sheets. While Whit’s heart goes out to Britney, Zack’s the exact opposite when he finds food hidden under Britney’s bed.

Later, Whit gets a call from social services and is unaware that Lauren is in earshot as their conversation unfolds. To Lauren’s shock, it’s clear Whit’s been very economical with the truth about Britney…

Will she confess all to Zack? James comments: ‘He can’t understand why she’s hiding things and worries there is a lack of trust. They’ve never hidden stuff from each other, and that’s why Zack and Whit’s bond has been so strong.’
