The tangled web that saw Stephen Reid steal cash from Underworld, which Daisy then secretly located and used to buy the Rovers, is unravelled this week. But how will Carla take the news that her missing money has been spent by her stepmum Jenny?
The messy tale is bought to light by roving reporter Bethany, who earwigs on a row between Jenny and Daisy, who’s been spending up a storm.
Uncovering lies
Wanting to find out more, Bethany cosies up to Daisy, saying it’s time they buried the hatchet and suggesting she and Daniel join her and Ryan for dinner.
‘Bethany’s got her suspicions about her but she also is desperate for there to be something that she’s done to make everyone hate Daisy,’ says Lucy Fallon, who plays the journalist.
Manipulating the situation further, Bethany manages to get time alone in the back room at the Rovers, where she finds Stephen’s journal. And with that, she’s on to Daisy…
‘Bethany knows that this journal has gone missing, everybody has been saying that the key to finding Carla’s money is in the journal, so when she sees it and starts finding things, she pieces it together,’ explains Lucy. ‘Nobody believes her but Ryan goes home and tells Carla the information, and Carla starts to piece it together.’
While panicked Jenny tells Daisy they need to repay Carla before she twigs, the Underworld boss’ mind goes over everything she’s been told about how the women came to own the Rovers.
The shocking truth tumbles out during a karaoke night when Jenny rushes off from the pub after a clash with flashy Daisy. When Carla follows her stepmum into Victoria Garden and probes, Jenny reveals all…
