The chil­dren’s novel TheWindintheWil­lows is be­ing brought to life at the London Pal­la­dium (from 16 Jun). Ju­lian Fel­lowes – cre­ator of TV’s Down­ton Abbey – says: ‘This new adap­ta­tion has been such a joy to write. I’ve no doubt our ac­tors are go­ing to have the time of their lives tak­ing th­ese mem­o­rable char­ac­ters on the jour­ney from page to stage.’ Di­rected by Rachel Ka­vanaugh, the mu­si­cal stars co­me­dian Ru­fus Hound as Toad, a love­able ras­cal with a pen­chant for fast cars. Af­ter a crash, Toad ends up in prison be­fore es­cap­ing and con­tin­u­ing his mad­cap ad­ven­tures much to the cha­grin of his pals Bad­ger, Ratty and Mole.
