Richard III is in my family tree
You asked in the letters pages in your March issue whether any other readers have got Richard III in their family tree.
Well, my niece’s son, Charles King, is a first cousin 20 times removed from Richard III. He is directly related to Richard III’s grandfather Ralph Neville, 1st Earl of Westmorland and his wife Lady Joan de Beaufort. With cooperation of members of ancestry.co.uk, and particularly the help of Charles’s father, Richard King, I have traced back a direct line to William the Conqueror on my family tree. Edward Bristow, by email Editor replies: I hope you managed to make it to Richard III’s reinterment at Leicester – seeing as you are family!
