Learn how to set up and use the WDYTYA Forum app with Nick Peers

1 Sign in or sign up

Tap the ‘Sign in’ link in the top right – if you’ve previously registered with the forum, enter your username and password here to sign into the app. If you’re browsing for the first time, tap the ‘Register an account’ button to sign up with username, email and password.

2 Browse the forum

You’ll return to the forum selection screen – tap one to browse sub-forums such as ‘Military help’ under ‘Research help’. You’ll notice some categories and forums are marked in blue – this indicates there are messages that have been updated or added since your last visit.

3 Find content

Browse a forum by scrolling through the list, then tap a message to read it and any replies (grouped together as a ‘thread’). Alternatively, use the ‘Search’ box at the top of the screen to search forum posts for specific keywords, helping you target potentially relevant content.

5 Write your reply

The ‘Compose’ message screen will open – type a reply using your keyboard. You’ll see buttons above the keyboard for adding photos – either from your iPad or iPhone’s library or straight from your camera. Once added, remove them using the extra photo button that appears.

7 More options

Select a forum and tap ‘…’ to reveal a pop-up menu. Select ‘New topic’ to compose a post (you’ll be prompted to enter a suitably descriptive subject to help others identify it). Choose ‘Subscribe’ to follow a forum – you’ll be notified when new posts or replies are sent.

4 Reply to posts

Add your own message to an existing thread one of two ways: either tap the ‘ Write a reply’ box to start from scratch, or tap an existing post and pick ‘Quote’ (or select ‘More > Multi- quote’ to select more than one post to quote from) to include that message in your reply.

6 Add other elements

Tap the ‘…’ button to show ‘BBCode’ and ‘Signature’ options. Tap ‘BBCode’ and select ‘[ URL]’ to enter a web link, placing the address inside the ‘[ URL]’ and ‘[/ URL]’ tags that pop up. Tap ‘Signature’ to edit the signature that will be added to the end of your message.

8 Tweak your settings

Return to the main screen and tap the ‘ ɓ’ button to reveal a menu. You can switch views to see only new notifications, follow subscribed forums and threads, or view in chronological order (select ‘Timeline’). Tap ‘Settings’ to customise the app – including changing font size.
