CAN YOU HELP?
A project to make over 150 historic Methodist records more accessible to researchers is on the lookout for volunteers.
Methodist Heritage, in partnership with the John Rylands Library in Manchester, needs help creating transcriptions of letters written to the denomination’s leader, Charles Wesley, during the 18th century.
The documents – mainly written by female members of the new Methodist societies – were written at the behest of Wesley himself and used to encourage other people to convert. As well as providing vivid accounts of religious devotion, the letters also offer important insights into the role of women from the 1730s up to the 1780s.
