bit.ly/ 2nBKnDt I am searching for any information about Ellen Thorngreen, who was previously Ellen Tobin née Cleary. She is recorded on the 1911 census living in Liverpool with her son Joseph, but then both disappear. There is also another son William John who disappears after the 1901 census. Any help would be appreciated. Tobina

Stephen Frost, Essex bit.ly/ 2nBRH2e I am trying to trace the marriage of my 5x great grandfather Stephen Frost. He was born in Frating, Essex, to John Frost and his wife Alice. I know he had four sons: Edward 1777, William 1780-1851, Stephen 1782-1842, Henry 1786-1849 – all born in Leigh- on-sea, Essex. susanpatch

Herbert Stanley Sharp(e) bit.ly/ 2p4ItIO I’ve been searching for Herbert Stanley Sharp for a number of years. I have a wedding certificate from 1919 that shows he married Dorothy Tooth. The witnesses were Samuel Aimers and Arthur Jones. Recently, I found a newspaper story from 1920 reporting on Derby Borough Police Court. It states that Herbert Stanley Sharp, a homeless labourer, was charged with stealing. It also says that he served in the Canadian Army and that he was Canadian by birth. Dawn Simpkins

Navy uniform bit.ly/ 2pqArsX This is one of the oldest photos I own (right) and is believed to be my 3x great grandfather. Can anyone offer information about the badges/ medals or possible date of the photo so I can match it with the right person in my tree? I know the badges on his arm mean he was a stoker. William Wingfield McDonald bit.ly/ 2o1GcMy I am trying to find out where my 3x great grandfather, William Wingfield McDonald, was born circa 1793. From around 1810 he was living in Dulwich, working as a parlour boy and then servant for a butler at Dulwich College. He married at St Martins in the Fields in 1817 (wife Elizabeth Barlow) and his children were baptised at Dulwich College apart from one (John Benjamin). Censuses give his birthplace as Brighton. michelcoz

From Devon to Staffordshire bit.ly/ 2oVwss7 My 4x great grandmother Elizabeth Barnes was born circa 1785 in Ugborough, Devon. Her birthplace is sometimes listed as Hogboro and Bigbury – depending on the site.

She married Richard Jenks (sometimes Jinks) on 6 January 1821 in the Parish of Berkswich in Stafford.

I found them in Rickerscote, Stafford, on the 1841 and 1851 censuses. In 1871, Betty is living in Huntington, Staffordshire, with her daughter Emma (née Jenks) Cope.

She died on 21 July 1872 at the age of 87. A newspaper notice says: “At the residence of her son-in-law, Mr Joseph Cope, Huntington. Betty, relict of Mr Richard Jinks, of Rickerscote, aged 87.”

I would like to find details of Betty’s birth and baptism and her parents in Devon and what might have brought her to Stafford. sarahlouise_ robertson
