An extraordinary series of supernatural manifestations are occurring in Wyke, a small township outside Bradford. They take not only the familiar form of knocking, but the spirits cause furniture to dance before the mistress of the house, and even struck her face with an antimacassar. These alarming incidents are taking place at 6 Church Street, which is occupied by a Mrs Priestly and her two daughters, all of whom are unnerved by reason of the weird happenings. They have been taking place continuously by day and night since Saturday. Unlike other ghosts, this robust spirit has no desire to cloak its performances under the cover of darkness, but carries on in daylight in the presence of independent witnesses.
