The Shot Tower

Cox’s Lead Works manufactured lead pipes, lead shot and red, white and orange ‘lead’ for paint. The production of shot required molten lead to be dropped from a great height through a large copper sieve into a tank of water. Cox’s erected a shot tower for this purpose in 1809. It was later demolished in 1932.
