As with many old directories, the publication also provides detailed background information about each town and village – handy for adding context to your ancestors’ lives.
Devonshire Trades Directory, 1930
Also available to download for £9 via twrcomputing.co.uk, this interwar publication lists tradesmen and women across historic county of Devonshire. Entries are sorted by trade within each town, with separate sections for Plymouth and Devonport.

The Tourist’s Companion to Plymouth, 1823

Eyre’s Post Office Directory of Plymouth, Devonport and District, 1897
Normally supplied on CD by Devon Family History Society, priced £5, this late-Victorian resource contains details of private residents and tradesmen in the areas of Plymouth, Devonport, Stonehouse and Saltash.
The directory also provides a historical overview of each area and photos of notable figures.
