Check local archives for any unique collections of First World War records
As Phil Tomaselli’s article ( page 17) makes clear, most military records relating to the First World War are held at The National Archives in Kew. However, turn to page 50 and you will see an amazing record, vital to anyone researching a soldier in the 1st Bucks Battalion, that is only available at the Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies in Aylesbury. Dig deeper – not all WW1 records are online or at TNA.
