Findmypast adds Scottish registers
Five new indexes of records compiled by the Scottish Genealogical Society have been released on findmypast.co.uk. Among them is a transcription of the Edinburgh Broughton Place United Presbyterian Church Band of Hope Register (pictured). It lists the names, ages and addresses of over 900 people who took temperance pledges with the church between 1886 and 1908. Findmypast has also added four early censuses, two of which are taken from kirk session records. They record the inhabitants of St Cuthbert’s parish in Edinburgh (1790) and Ladykirk, Berwickshire (1811). The other censuses cover Perth (1766) and Tingwall in the Shetland Islands (1785).
