Newton analyses light

President of the Royal Society Isaac Newton this year published Opticks: or, a Treatise of the Reflexions, Refractions, Inflexions and Colours of Light.

He proved that the rainbow spectrum produced by a prism from white light could be refracted and recomposed into white light via another prism.

He judged that light was made up of particles or ‘corpuscles’.
