PRINCESS SOPHIA DULEEP SINGH

Daughter of Maharaja Duleep Singh and goddaughter of Queen Victoria, Princess Sophia Alexandra Duleep Singh was one of several South Asian women to pioneer the cause of British women’s rights, even becoming president of the Committee of the Suffragette Fellowship. During the war, she volunteered at a Red Cross hospital in Brighton, nursing Indian soldiers evacuated from the Western Front.
