My great grandfather, Thomas Henry Dyson (1869–1936), was a warehouseman at a woollen mill in Huddersfield, Yorkshire.
This photograph shows my grandmother, Barbara Denniss, on a Raleigh motorbike in the late 1920s. Apparently she once took a humpback bridge at speed, and my grandfather fell off the back!

A soldier’s story
I believe that Charlie Barne, my half-great great uncle (1869–1948), is shown here in the uniform of the Royal Horse Artillery, but records show he served in the 65th Battery, Royal Field Artillery, in India and in the Second Boer War.
This photo fell out of the family Bible I inherited when my gran died. As far as I know, it’s taken in India in the 1880s – is one of these soldiers Charlie Barne?
