Pre-WW1 court-martial bit.ly/samuelcressey

I have an ancestor named Samuel Cressey (born 1894), who appears to have been court-martialled on 8 May 1913 in Limerick.

He died as a prisoner of war in Germany on 18 May 1915 while serving with the 1st York and Lancaster Regiment (no. 10230).

What would he have been doing in Limerick before the war, and how can I find the reason for his court-martial?

I know that Samuel had a troubled youth following the death of his parents in 1902 and 1908, and that he was sent to a reform school. coopernicola

Israel Munt’s death bit.ly/israelmunt

I cannot find a death record for Israel Munt.

He was married to Phoebe Munt (née Hawtrey) and is recorded on the 1861 census in Tottenham, aged 55.

Phoebe Munt is listed as a widow on the 1871 census, but the only death registration I can find for an Israel Munt is dated 1857 in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, which obviously isn’t correct. I would be very grateful for any help and information. Simon45

Warwick Asylum bit.ly/hannahgodwin

I just came across a record for one of my ancestors on Ancestry and was wondering if anyone would be able to help me find out more information.

Her name was Hannah Godwin (née Prestridge) and she is recorded in the UK, Lunacy Patients Admission Registers, 1846– 1912. It states she was admitted to an asylum in Warwick on 2 September 1862 and died on 25 April 1897.

Do you think there would be records for her available from her time there? If so, would anyone know who I would contact to try and obtain this information? scot293

Lilian Beatrice Wareham bit.ly/lilianwareham

I have received a copy of my grandmother’s birth certificate, who was born in 1919 in Hastings, East Sussex.

The mother is listed as Lilian Beatrice Wareham, who apparently died around the time of the birth. My nan’s father (who was already married) took the child and raised her with his wife, until he left them both and went back to Canada.

Unfortunately, I can’t find any records for a Lilian Beatrice Wareham who died around that time. The only person with that name who could possibly be the mother was born in Kent in 1891, but I’ve not had any DNA matches with people in the tree that I’ve created for her.

I don’t know where to go next. Does anyone out there have any ideas? skemp

WW1 medical record bit.ly/davidreesowen

Can anyone decipher my grandfather’s medical condition? He is the first entry at the top of this page (below) – Private David Rees Owen, no. 34758.

It doesn’t appear to be anything major, as he was admitted on 29 May 1916 and discharged on 2 June, but I am curious to know what put him into hospital. Maddyco
