Who Do You Think You Are?

Ancestry: West Midlands Police Records

-

Share true tales of crime and punishment

Project Overview The Ancestry World Archives Project is asking volunteers to help index a large collection of police records spanning from the 1860s to the 1940s, covering a range of constabularies across the West Midlands.

How Will It Help?

The collection features a variety of different records, including service files for individual officers. Once the project is complete, the resulting index will be added to the ancestry.co.uk database and made available for family historians to search for free. How Do I Take Part? Participants will need to sign up to the Ancestry World Archives Project at familytreemaker.com/ AWAP and download the free Keying Tool, which is currently undergoing a major redesign. Although we hope to include this project, the new Keying Tool may not be ready in time – check our website for updates.
