How To Download Digital Records From TNA’s Website
There’s a simple way to get direct to the online records if you want to search within a specific collection
1
Go to discovery.nationalarchives.gov. uk and select ‘Sign in’, or ‘Register’ if haven’t previously created an account. Next, go to nationalarchives.gov.uk and select ‘Find online collections’ on the right-hand side in the middle of the page.
2
This takes you to a list of 65 collections that have been digitised. These are not all available from TNA’s website. Collections that say “Available on: Ancestry” or “Available on: Findmypast” must be accessed via those sites, and are not part of this offer.
3
Scroll down and select the collection you are interested in. You will be taken to a useful guide including search boxes showing what has been indexed to narrow down results. Note that you do not need to enter information into every box.
