Who Do You Think You Are?
A project to create a virtual replica of the Public Record Office of Ireland before its destruction in June 1922 is underway. Summer 2022 will see the release of a free web resource, including copies and transcripts of material lost in the fire, with smaller batches of test data released earlier. On the 99th anniversary, 30 June 2021, there will be an event hosted with The National Archives in Kew. canmore.org.uk
This project to catalogue Scotland’s physical heritage ends in March 2021, so the team is working on final collections as you read this. These include Estates Exchange, comprising about 10,000 images documenting the sale of major estates around Scotland, with images of the properties, maps and descriptions of land usage. The team has also been working to develop new ways to view the images, including functionality allowing you to easily flick through complete volumes.
