Probate Index
David died in 1894. He didn’t leave a will, but letters of administration were issued to deal with his estate. The index is on Ancestry ( ancestry.co.uk/search/ collections/1904), and can be searched for free at probatesearch. service.gov.uk/#wills. Wills are always worth ordering, but letters of administration do not reveal much more than you get from the index – ie the estate value and beneficiaries’ names.
