Thousands of Scottish maps made freely available
The National Library of Scotland has added new collections to its free maps website maps.nls.uk. The additions include 214 commercial maps of Scotland, dating from the 1870s to the 1930s and primarily drawn at a half-inch or quarter-inch to the mile; 224 maps of rural estates (1760s–1950s); 1,657 25 inch to the mile ‘parish edition’ Ordnance Survey maps (1855–1885); and 2,430 Ordnance Survey National Grid maps, published in 1970.
