The DNA Clinic (TBC)
February
BBC Two
Over-the-counter DNA kits have become hugely popular in recent years. Not only do the results obtained from these kits offer clues as to where in the world our forebears hailed from and connect us to unknown relations, but they can warn us about potential health issues. But should we think more carefully about what we might find before we take such tests – and the companies doing the testing?
This three-part series should help to answer these questions. The DNA Clinic is built around the idea of asking ordinary Britons to come forward because they have questions about their families, their ancestry or their health.
The series also showcases the work of the genetics team at the University of Leicester, where genetic fingerprinting was discovered and where researchers helped with the identification of the remains of Richard III, who was buried in the city, as well as scientists at King’s College London.
