Findmypast adds Plymouth Catholic records

-

Family history website Findmypast ( findmypast.co.uk) has added the Catholic parish records for the Diocese of Plymouth to its Catholic Heritage Archive.

The records span 59 parishes in Devon, Cornwall and Dorset, and date from 1781–1921. They consist of about 55,000 baptisms, 16,000 marriages, 15,000 burials and 15,000 congregational records, which include confirmations, first confessions and pew rentals.

The additional records provide vital information that will help you to trace your ancestors. Baptisms will reveal the names of parents and godparents, enabling you to uncover details of previous generations as well as the identities of family friends or relatives. Marriages will provide the names of your forebear’s spouse, father and witnesses, while burials allow you to discover the final resting place of your ancestors and their age at death.
